Hillary Rodham Clinton says America must lead the effort to fight the Islamic State, but calls on Arab nations to increase their involvement in the wake of deadly attacks in Paris.
In a sweeping address in New York, the front-runner for the 2016 Democratic presidential nomination lays out her vision for how to heighten pressure on the Islamic State and combat terrorism at home. Clinton vows to keep American troops out of Syria. And she says the US must accept refugees from the war-torn region even as the nation toughens its defenses and increases intelligence capabilities.
Americans, Clinton adds, must overcome partisan battles and rise above personal fear to combat the threat of jihadism across the globe.
“Islam is not our adversary,” she says, arguing that demonizing the religion, “gives these criminals, these murderers, more standing than they deserve.”

Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
