Border Police officers “neutralized” a Palestinian suspect who was waving a knife and hurled rocks at them in the Bethlehem area, according to police.

A police statement says the suspect tried to sneak into Israel through a checkpoint in the area, but upon realizing he wouldn’t succeed in doing so began throwing stones at security forces.

When officers approached the suspect, he then drew a knife, leading them to warn him to drop the blade, though he “continued to pose a threat” so Border Police fired at his lower body, the police statement adds.

The suspect, who was wounded, was arrested and taken for questioning. Police don’t provide any details on the severity of his wounds, while noting no officers were hurt in the incident.
