Following today’s risk assessment by the Home Front Command, Education Minister Yoav Kisch says that some schools will be allowed to reopen Monday while students in most of Israel will continue learning remotely.
“In light of the security situation, the vast majority of the education system will operate through remote learning only,” Kisch says in a statement. “This is a targeted and phased reopening — responsible and controlled — tailored to the differences between local authorities and the map of threats, and allowing about 24 hours of advance preparation.”
The areas designated by the Home Front Command as “yellow,” or lesser risk, include the Beit Shean Valley, Jordan Valley, West Bank, Dead Sea area, West Lachish, Gaza border communities, Western Negev, Southern Negev, and Arava.
Only schools with shelters will be allowed to reopen.
As of today, the army has not specified when the next assessment will be shared.
