Egypt welcomes French peace push

A spokesman for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry says that Cairo welcomes in principle the French plan to kick-start Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, in particular the initiative for an international conference in the summer, Ynet reports.

“We still have to inspect the central challenges that we face on the issue of the Palestinians,” says Ahmed Abu Ziyad.

Paris, Abu Ziyad says, is currently holding talks on the subject.
