Ex-top cop slams Hirsch appointment

Former Jerusalem District police chief Aryeh Amit criticizes the recent appointment of Gal Hirsch as the country’s next police commissioner.

“The decision is delusional and wrong,” Amit says, according to Walla.

“I do not understand minister [Gilad Erdan]. He has no idea about the police. You can not take a person who the IDF did not want and promote… and hand him such a top job.”

Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan nominated Hirsch, a once-promising senior IDF officer who resigned over a damning inquiry into the 2006 abduction of Israeli soldiers Ehud Goldwasser and Eldad Regev on the northern border while he was commander of the Galilee Division.
