Expert warns ammonia tanks in Haifa endanger thousands
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleAn expert is warning that the ammonia tanks in Haifa pose a massive risk to the city and could kill tens of thousands if something goes wrong.
The report prepared by Professor Ehud Keinan highlights the danger of the ship that transports the chemical to the storage tanks.
If something went wrong, or if the ship was attacked, the devastation would rival the atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Keinan says.
Activists have been warning for years of the danger posed by the ammonia facility and demand that it be moved to an un-populated area.
The Lebanese Hezbollah terror group has tried to target it with rockets in the past.
