Foreign Ministry summons Argentina envoy for backing UN rights council probe of Israel

The Foreign Ministry summons Argentina’s ambassador for a clarification after the South American country voted in favor of an open-ended UN Human Rights Council probe of Israel after the recent fighting in Gaza against the Hamas terror group.

Modi Ephraim, the ministry’s deputy-director general for Latin America, clarifies to Ambassador Sergio Urribarri that Israel views Argentina’s support for the commission of inquiry as unacceptable and that Jerusalem expects Buenos Aires “to stand by our side in this difficult hour,” according to a statement.

The meeting comes after the ambassadors of the Philippines and Mexico were also summoned over their countries’ support for the inquiry.
