Former PM Olmert asks president for pardon
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleImprisoned former prime minister Ehud Olmert has submitted a request for a pardon to President Reuven Rivlin, the president’s office says.
Rivlin’s office says the request is being sent to the Justice Ministry for consideration, as with all pardon appeals.
Olmert was sentenced in 2014 to six years in prison over two separate charges of taking bribes in the early 2000s, when he served as mayor of the capital.
In December 2015, the Supreme Court reduced his sentence to 18 months in prison after overturning one of the convictions.
