Healthy 2-month old baby dies of flu in northern Israel
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleA two-month-old baby from northern Israel, with no known medical conditions, has died as a result of the flu, the Health Ministry reports.
It marks the sixth case of a child dying of flu in Israel since November. The ministry says that although it is not possible to vaccinate children of this age, people who come into contact with them should be vaccinated to provide some protection.
The flu vaccine does not completely prevent illness, but it reduces the severity in most cases.
At-risk populations should wear masks in closed places and in gatherings, the ministry says, recommending that medical staff and visitors wear masks in nursing homes and geriatric institutions.
