A police officer opened fire on a suspicious Palestinian motorist at the Elazar Junction in the Gush Etzion settlement bloc in the West Bank earlier today.
According to the IDF and Israel Police, the officer — from the police’s national headquarters and on a regular commute in his cruiser — spotted a Palestinian driver committing traffic offenses and stopped the car for inspection.
“At one point, after the officer got out of [his] vehicle, the driver began to flee,” the IDF and police say.
In response, the officer opened fire at the car, but the driver fled, according to the military. No injuries are reported in the incident.
The IDF and police say they are searching the area to locate the driver.
