IS offshoot claims responsibility for Sinai attack

The Islamic State offshoot in the Sinai Peninsula, Wallayat Sinai, claims responsibility for an explosive device detonated Thursday morning in which at least 20 police officers were wounded.

The military is fighting an Islamist insurgency in North Sinai, which grew since the 2013 ouster of president Mohammed Morsi by then army chief and now president Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi.
