Leaders gather for Mount Herzl ceremony honoring October 7 fallen soldiers

An official state ceremony marking October 7 Remembrance Day is underway at Jerusalem’s Mount Herzl military cemetery, two days after the Hebrew anniversary of the Hamas-led invasion and massacre in southern Israel.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog, the heads of the security agencies, and other senior officials are in attendance as the event opens with a memorial for the soldiers killed during the attack and in the ensuing war in Gaza.
Later, at 2 p.m., a separate ceremony will honor the civilians murdered in the attacks.
