Likud MK said to call for removal of judge overseeing Netanyahu’s graft case
A lawmaker from Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Likud party has sent a letter to Supreme Court Chief Justice Ester Hayut demanding the top judge in the premier’s trial on corruption charges be replaced, Channel 12 news reports.
According to the network, Likud MK Shlomo Karhi says Jerusalem District Court Judge Rebecca Friedman-Feldman should be recused because her son worked at a law firm that provided legal advice to a witness in one of the graft cases involving the premier.
The network says the move appears to be aimed at delaying the start of the testimony stage in the trail, which is set to begin in January, and could be the start of attempts to delegitimize the judges overseeing the trial, following efforts to tar the media, police and prosecutors.
