A man suspected of killing a Palestinian during a clash in the West Bank over a week ago has been moved from a hospital to police custody.

Yehiel Indore was arrested a day after allegedly shooting 19-year-old Qusai Jamal Matan on August 4 as settlers clashed with Palestinians in the village of Burqa. Indore has since been under police guard at a Jerusalem hospital while being treated for a serious head injury caused by a rock thrown at him during the incident.

On Friday, a court further extended his remand, as police revealed they no longer suspect a racial motive for Indore’s actions but still suspect him of killing Matan with intent or indifference, participating in a riot, conspiracy to commit a crime and obstruction of justice. Indore has claimed he fired his gun in self-defense.
