Singer-songwriter Yonatan Razel, 53, has been hospitalized at Jerusalem’s Shaare Zedek Medical Center after suffering a stroke.
The hospital says that Razel is conscious and receiving treatment.
The hospital statement includes a comment from Razel’s family, who say that he is stable and they are grateful for the many prayers for his recovery, offering his Hebrew name, Yonatan Adi ben Chaya Rachel, for healing prayers.
Razel has a prominent voice and sound in spiritual music in Israel, bringing his considerable skills as a pianist and composer to create inspiring songs such as “Katonti” and “Vehi Sheamda.” One of Razel’s well-known songs, “Ashira,” is about the miraculous recovery of his daughter, Rivki, who fell from a second-floor roof in 2010 when she was four, sustaining a severe traumatic brain injury, and who was in a coma on a ventilator before a long recovery.
