Netanyahu threatened to boot Bennett from cabinet — report

Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly threatened to fire Jewish Home party leader Naftali Bennett from his cabinet during an angry exchange recently, news site Ynet reports, citing unnamed sources informed on the matter.

The move would have almost certainly led to the dismantling of Netanyahu’s razor-thin coalition and early elections after just over a year.

There was no immediate independent confirmation of the report.

According to the account, Bennett, who serves as Education Minister, demanded that Netanyahu keep to a promise to discuss negotiations with the Palestinian Authority over ending IDF deployments in Area A of the West Bank during the cabinet meeting on Sunday.

“You’re not the one managing things here,” Netanyahu shot back, Ynet reports. “You don’t set anything here.”
