NYC Jews go for Cruz, Clinton, voting breakdown shows

A breakdown of precinct by precinct voting in New York City published by The New York Times shows that heavily Jewish neighborhoods favored Ted Cruz and Hillary Clinton in the Republican and Democratic primary contests Tuesday.

Cruz, an evangelist who came in third across the state, garnered some of his best numbers in the city in the Borough Park, Flatbush, Crown Heights, Kew Gardens Hills and Far Rockaway neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens, all known as bastions of the city’s million-strong Jewish community.

Those same neighborhoods also went for Clinton, who beat out Jewish challenger Bernie Sanders statewide.

Donald Trump, who won the state, found much of his support in Staten Island and Queens, as well as parts of Brooklyn, and John Kasich, who came in second, got the go-ahead in Manhattan and much of downtown Brooklyn.

Sanders garnered most of his votes in Staten Island and parts of Queens.
