Palestinian Authority Vice President Hussein al-Sheikh calls on the US and the international community to intervene after Israel’s security cabinet passed a series of measures that deepened Israeli control of the West Bank.

The new policies change regulations at flashpoint sites and, supporters and critics say, advance de facto annexation of the territory.

“What is being circulated about impending Israeli decisions to deepen annexation and impose new realities in the West Bank, including in Area A, constitutes a nullification of all signed and binding agreements between the parties and represents a dangerous escalation and a blatant violation of international law,” Sheikh tweets.

Per the 1993 Oslo Accords, Area A of the West Bank is meant to be under PA civil and security control.

“These unilateral measures aim to undermine any political horizon, dismantle the two-state solution, and drag the region into further tension and instability,” he continues.

“We call on the US administration and the international community to intervene immediately to halt this occupation-driven aggression,” he says.
