After Shin Bet chief David Zini said he had decided not to attach a security detail to Yashar party leader and election front-runner Gadi Eisenkot, various Hebrew media outlets report that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has told Zini to make sure Eisenkot gets “adequate” security, “as needed.”

The security service is said to have responded that it is “doing the maximum” and “acting in accordance with the law.”

Channel 13 news meanwhile reports that Zini spoke this weekend with Eisenkot, telling him, “Here is the number for the emergency hotline. If something happens, that is the number.” The network says that a Shin Bet official later followed up with Eisenkot to say he was “the address” in case of an issue.
