Police say they have arrested two suspects linked to the killing of an Arab teen in northern Israel, following a manhunt that spread into the West Bank.
The victim, 19-year-old Riyad Salem, was killed outside his house in Deir Hanna on December 12. He was one of 252 Arab homicide victims in 2025, the deadliest year on record for the minority group.
Several days after the lethal shooting, police arrested two suspected perpetrators, both of whom remain in custody.
Police now say they have nabbed two additional suspects, who allegedly fled to the West Bank in the killing’s wake.
Yesterday, undercover Border Police officers raided a building in the West Bank city of Qalqilya — just east of the Green Line — and detained the pair in hiding.
The men, residents of Deir Hanna ages 18 and 29, were brought to the Acre Magistrate’s Court, where a judge ruled they will remain in custody until at least March 4.
Help us report truthfully on social media
As a multimedia journalist, my job is to take the quality, fact-based journalism produced by The Times of Israel newsroom and make it accessible across every platform — from Instagram posts to podcasts to short-form videos.
This is how many, especially young people, consume news these days. But misinformation is rampant on social media. Our team at ToI produces accurate, responsible short-form reporting on Israel and the Jewish world.
If you believe in the importance of factual social media journalism, please consider joining our reader support group, The Times of Israel Community. Your financial support is essential to sustain responsible multimedia reporting.
