Police are searching for suspects who set fire to Islamic holy books in a West Bank mosque earlier this evening.

According to Palestinian outlets, several Israeli settlers broke into the house of worship on the outskirts of Maniya, a village south of Bethlehem in the southern West Bank, where they stole carpets and cut electrical wires.

Police say the mosque was abandoned, despite it reportedly still being furnished and hooked up to electricity. No injuries were reported in the break-in.

Officers from the Etzion police station, as well as Border Police forces, are now searching for suspects in the incident.
