Report: US asks Israel to use ties with Sudan’s top general to help end coup
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe US has asked Israel to take advantage of its good relations with the leader of Sudan’s coup, Gen. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, to press the country’s military to restore civilian control of the nation, Axios’s Barak Ravid reports.
Citing American and Israeli officials, Ravid notes that Burhan has good ties with the Mossad and other top security apparatuses in Israel and has been a central figure in the normalization process.
He says the Biden administration has told Jerusalem normalization cannot continue until Sudan has been stabilized.
