Russian-backed Security Council resolution calling for Gaza ceasefire fails to pass

A Russian-backed UN Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas in Gaza has been voted down.

Five countries voted in favor, four voted against and six countries abstained.

Another resolution on the war, which was drafted by Brazil will be voted on tomorrow.
