Shas submits Knesset slate
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleThe ultra-Orthodox Shas party submits its slate for the 20th Knesset, with just over an hour to go for parties to register.
Aryeh Deri leads the list, Yitzhak Cohen-Shani is second and Meshulam Nahari is third.
MK Nissim Ze’ev, one of the founders of Shas, is not on the list.
The party’s slate is chosen by the Council of Torah Sages, a steering committee of rabbis once led by late party founder Ovadiah Yosef.
The party is expected to garner around 5 seats, weakened by the splitting off of former party leader Eli Yishai.
