Sides in Vienna preparing to push deadline — again
An Iranian diplomat in the delegation that arrived in Vienna for nuclear talks says the sides “are not committed to any date” and that the West must “make decisions.”
Officials in the Iranian delegation have already floated the notion that the deadline for the talks will again be pushed back from July 7, tomorrow, which in itself is a week’s extension over a previous June 30 deadline.
According to Haaretz, the arrival of Western diplomats in Vienna on Sunday revealed gaps in the expectations of these countries versus that of the Obama administration’s envoy, Secretary of State John Kerry.
Iranian sources blame mainly France, represented at the talks by Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius, for toughening the West’s position to a point beyond the maximum concessions Iran is willing to make.
