Trump lawyer: President will give sons control of firm, but doesn’t have to
Trump says he will put all his business assets in a trust and hand control of his company to his two adult sons and a longtime business executive to allay concerns about conflicts of interest, and then introduces a lawyer to explain the move.
Sheri Dillon says the company will do no new foreign deals but can pursue domestic ones, and says that the Trump Organization will appoint an ethics adviser to its management team who must approve deals that could raise concerns about conflicts.
However, she says he is not obligated to do this and says he will not divest.
She says Ivanka Trump will also remove herself from management of the company.
She adds that Trump terminated some 30 deals the company was involved in when winning the presidency, losing the firm millions of dollars.
