Trump claims he will soon declare Strait of Hormuz a US territory
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleUS President Donald Trump says that he would be soon declaring the Strait of Hormuz a US territory, escalating his rhetoric over the vital waterway that carries a significant share of global oil supplies.
“After we finish defeating Iran… I’ll be declaring the Hormuz Strait a territory of the United States,” Trump claims at a rally.
Trump doesn’t elaborate on the move and it’s unclear whether it would have any implications, given Iran’s ability to continue to thwart shipping through the channel.
