UN chief: 2-state solution must be saved
Speaking in Cairo, UN Chief Antonio Guterres says “everything must be done” to preserve the two-state solution.
The comment comes after the White House signals that it is considering retreating from support for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and hours before Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump are set to meet.
The White House announced Tuesday that Washington will seek to broker a peace agreement between Israelis and Palestinians, but that a two-state solution may not necessarily be the framework to bring that peace to fruition and that the president will not insist on it.
