Weighing in for the first time on the Israeli military’s widespread military operation in the northern West Bank’s Jenin Refugee Camp, the White House expresses its support for “Israel’s security and right to defend its people against Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and other terrorist groups.”

A National Security Council spokesperson adds in a statement that the administration is “monitoring the situation closely.”
