Ya’alon confirms Hamas holding both missing Israelis

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon says after returning from a work trip to Italy that “two Israeli citizens are held in the Gaza Strip by Hamas.” The comment is the first official confirmation that the second missing Israeli is also being held by Hamas.

“The State of Israel is investing great effort to return them to their families. We see Hamas as responsible for their fate and demand their return. I met with the family of Mengistu, I updated them on our actions and expressed my wishes that they remain strong. We are also in touch with the family of the other Israeli held in the Gaza Strip and updating them on developments,” says Ya’alon.
