The medical staff of Western Galilee hospital in Nahariya went on strike for two hours from 10 to 12 on Monday morning to protest a violent attack on a physician by the angry relative of a hospital patient.

On Sunday night, after a doctor in the intensive care unit informed the family of a patient that the sick woman was fighting for her life and might not survive the night, an angry relative attacked the physician and slammed her into the wall with great force.

On-duty nurses intervened to save the doctor, security personnel were called to the scene, and a report was filed with the local police. The doctor only suffered minor injuries, but the overt violence of the incident prompted the hospital staff to call for a strike.
