A Palestinian was arrested early Thursday near the northern West Bank settlement of Einav after allegedly attempting to stab an IDF soldier.

The man reportedly approached soldiers at a roadblock with a knife in his hand.

Conflicting reports suggest a soldier may have been very lightly hurt in the ensuing altercation.

The Palestinian man was also hurt in the incident, but was treated by a Palestinian Red Crescent team before being transferred by the soldiers to the security services for interrogation.

Violent demonstrations have been common in the West Bank and Jerusalem in recent days as tensions have flared around the Temple Mount.

On Wednesday evening, two soldiers were wounded when they were hit by rocks during a riot in Beit Ummar, near the West Bank town of Hebron.

The two were treated by military medics at the scene for light-to-moderate injuries, Channel 2 reported. They were later evacuated to Jerusalem’s Hadassah Ein Karem Medical Center for further treatment.

Rioting was reported in several locations in the Hebron and Jerusalem areas. Troops reported rock throwing as well as the use of firebombs by demonstrators.
