There were “exaggerations” in Iran’s declarations about its nuclear advancements, Defense Minister Ehud Barak said in an interview to Israel Radio on Thursday. Barak was responding to Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s announcement the day before that it was dramatically closer to mastering the production of nuclear fuel.

While downplaying the immediacy of the threat and saying that the Islamic nation had “not yet reached the point of no return,” Barak conceded that Iran was making headway and said that sanctions against it must be intensified.

Barak, who is currently in Japan, also Iran was responsible for the recent attacks and attempted attacks on Israeli targets in Asia and Eastern Europe.
