Police said Kobi Peretz is suspected of setting fire to the front door of his former agent, who is a state witness in an ongoing tax fraud case against the singer.

Peretz’s was released on Sunday after initial reports kept his identity under wraps.

Peretz was interrogated Sunday at the Central District’s fraud department on suspicion of threats, extortion and conspiring to commit a crime.

The singer had been arrested along with his agent for tax fraud, and the agent agreed to act as a state witness in the case. As part of the agreement, the agent agreed to hand the police incriminating evidence against a number of known personalities from the Israeli music industry, including Peretz.

In light of those events, the singer threatened his former agent, who filed a complaint with the police. Following an investigation, authorities called Peretz in for questioning, and he was interrogated for over two hours.

Police suspect the singer was behind the torching of his ex-agent’s door two weeks ago, and that he sent threatening text messages to the agent’s cellphone.

Peretz, a 36-year-old native Tel Avivian, is famous for his Mizrahi-style music.

He was released after his current agent signed his bail bond.
