Israeli youths tied up and beat a Palestinian who was shot in the stomach by a security guard last week outside the West Bank village of Urif, an IDF report on the incident revealed Saturday.
Palestinian sources claimed the Palestinians were extinguishing brushfires lit by Israelis from the neighboring settlement of Yitzhar when the security detail opened fire, injuring 22-year-old Najah a-Safadi, who was said to be armed with a knife.
The IDF report revealed that after a-Safadi was shot, local Israeli youths tied him up and began to beat him up. IDF soldiers who were at the scene chased them away from the injured Palestinian, who was subsequently evacuated to Rafidia Hospital in Nablus in serious but stable condition.
No arrests were made in connection with the incident.
Two weeks ago, settlers from Yitzhar were filmed shooting at Palestinians after fighting broke out between the two parties. One Palestinian was hospitalized with a gunshot wound. The Israeli human rights NGO B’Tselem published the footage on YouTube.
