Former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger was briefly hospitalized Tuesday afternoon in New York City after falling at his home in the city’s East Side.

NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital said in a statement that Kissinger entered the hospital Tuesday.

The 89-year-old former diplomat was discharged later in the day, and no details of his injuries were released.

Kissinger served under presidents Richard Nixon and Gerald Ford. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1973 and the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1977.
