Police say victim, 37-year-old Shlomo Levy, was known to have underworld associations

A man was fatally shot by an unknown gunman Saturday night on Yehuda Hamaccabi Street in Ashdod.

A Magen David Adom paramedic who was at the scene later told Channel 2 News that the victim, Shlomo Levy, 37, was still alive when medics arrived.

“He was unconscious with multiple entry wounds,” the medic said.

The man died en route to the hospital, he said.

Police said Levy was known to have underworld associations.

A search for the shooter was underway.
