Dozens of right-wing activists demonstrated in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square Thursday evening in protest of the imminent release of another group of convicted terrorists as part of the US brokered peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.
The protesters called for the institution of the death penalty for convicted terrorists in order to prevent future prisoner deals.
The upcoming prisoner release, the fourth and final phase of planned prisoner discharges as part of the ongoing US-brokered peace talks with the Palestinians, will bring the total number of released convicts under the deal to 104.
The date of the release has yet to be determined.
Israel released the third batch of prisoners in late December after the Supreme Court struck down a series of appeals from terror victims’ families.
