Two bystanders were injured when a grenade was thrown in Ashdod on Monday night, in what police believe was a botched attack by criminals.
A man, 38, sustained moderate shrapnel wounds, and a woman, 20, was lightly injured when the blast occurred on Hatsiyonut Street in the Mediterranean port city.
Police said that the grenade was thrown at a shop by a motorcyclist.
The injured man was standing nearby in the street, while the woman, who was driving a car, had just pulled out of a parking spot close to the shop, when the grenade exploded.
The car and the shop were both damaged. The motorcyclist fled the scene.
