Gilad Shalit is scheduled to indulge his love of basketball by attending the NBA All-Star Game in Orlando on Sunday.

Shalit, who has maintained a low media profile since his October 2011 release from five years of captivity in Gaza, caused a commotion in late January when he attended a Maccabi Tel Aviv game at Nokia Arena last month.

According to a Ynet News article, Shalit and a friend have tickets to all the events — various games and parties — of the All-Star Game weekend.

It is unclear whether Shalit will meet with US officials during his visit, although he met with US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro prior to his departure. In early February Shalit, a dual Israeli-French citizenship, flew to Paris to meet with French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
