Israel’s Ami Dadaon sets 2 world records at European Para Swimming Championships

Dadaon wins three gold medals and a silver at the meet in Madeira, while teammate Mark Malyar also snags 4 medals, including one gold

Israel’s Ami Dadaon set two world records at the European Para Swimming Championships, capping a successful meet in which he won three gold medals and a silver.

Dadaon, 20, won golds in the 50-meter, 100-meter, and 200-meter freestyle races, setting a new world best time in the last two events.

In the 50 meter race, he broke the European record. He also won a silver medal in the 150-meter individual medley.

His teammate Mark Maylar, 21, also won four medals, including a gold in the 100-meter backstroke, while Iyad Shalabi, 33, took gold in the 50-meter backstroke.

Yulia Gordiychuk, 23, won a bronze medal in the women’s 400-meter freestyle.

In all, Israel won 5 gold, 4 silver and three bronze medals at the championships that were held over the last week in Madeira, Portugal.
