After hours of delays, Qatar, a key mediator in the hostage deal, confirms that 13 Israelis and 7 foreigners will be freed from captivity in Gaza “tonight.”

“Obstacles to release of prisoners were overcome through Qatari-Egyptian contacts with both sides,” Qatar’s foreign ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari tweets.

Hamas also confirms that the release is moving ahead.

An Israeli official said earlier that they are “cautiously optimistic” that the issues had been resolved and the release of the second group of hostages would still be happening tonight.
