Authorities block left-wing activists from reaching West Bank olive harvest

Police and soldiers blocked seven buses carrying left-wing activists from traveling to the West Bank village of Burin to assist Palestinians in the olive harvest, after declaring the area a closed military zone.

Activists launch an impromptu demonstration on the road as police hold them up.

“I wish the Judea and Samaria police would demonstrate one percent of the determination it demonstrated here against extremist settlers who carry out daily nationalist crimes across the territories,” writes Labor MK Gilad Kariv, who was traveling with the activists, on X.

“Therefore, let it be clear: the Ariel station commander refuses to present the authorization letter from the army that allows him to make this decision,” he says.
