El Al reschedules flights as general strike looms
El Al, the country’s national carrier, changes the flight schedule for Wednesday ahead of a planned general strike which will affect Israel’s largest airport.
The Histadrut Labor Union announces that it will begin an open-ended strike starting Wednesday, citing failure to reach agreement with the Finance Ministry over the wages of civil servants.
In order to minimize harm to passengers, the company brought forward more than 20 flights planned to leave early tomorrow morning to take off before 6 a.m., when the strike officially begins.
All passengers with flights scheduled for Wednesday were asked by the company to come to the airport at least three hours before the new departure times.
The company says the schedule update will remain in force even if the strike is averted at the last minute.
