Far-right lawmaker Ben Gvir given conditional green light to visit Temple Mount tomorrow

Extremist lawmaker Itamar Ben Gvir of the right-wing Religious Zionism party gets a green light from police to visit the Temple Mount in Jerusalem tomorrow, pending another assessment in the morning.
The Jerusalem police decision comes as tensions soar between Jews and Arabs following a spate of deadly terror attacks in Israel.
The Temple Mount is Judaism’s holiest site, and is holy to Muslims as the site of Al-Aqsa Mosque, making the area a tinderbox that has erupted into conflict in the past. Jews are not allowed to pray there.
The Muslim holy month of Ramadan is also beginning, which can bring tens of thousands of worshipers to Al-Aqsa.
Ben Gvir is a firebrand opposition lawmaker who played a part in stoking tensions in Jerusalem ahead of last year’s war between Israel and the Hamas terror group.
