Defense Minister Benny Gantz urges Israeli leaders to “lovingly” accept criticism from relatives of soldiers killed defending the country, as Memorial Day commemorations are held for fallen troops and terror victims.
“What is the importance of national memory?” Gantz asks during an event at Mount Herzl military cemetery in Jerusalem this morning. “There is one answer: life. We remember all these beautiful moments with our cherished ones because this is the way to bring them back to life.”
“This movement, between death and life, is also part of our story here,” he added.
“They are our story.”
