Haaretz columnist Shavit quits over assault accusations
Add ToI as a Preferred Source on GoogleLongtime columnist Ari Shavit has quit his positions at the Haaretz daily and Channel 10 news, following fresh sexual harassment accusations that surfaced earlier in the day.
Shavit had previously been suspended after admitting sexually harassing a female journalist several years ago.
A second woman, a former J Street staffer, came forward earlier in the day saying that he had fondled her hand and harassed her in Baltimore in 2014.
“I am ashamed of the mistakes I made with regards to people in general and women in particular,” Shavit says in a statement carried by Haaretz.
“I am embarrassed that I did not behave correctly to my wife and children. I am embarrassed about the consequences of what I did.”
