Palestinian media outlets report that Hassan Yousef, one of Hamas’s founders in the West Bank, has been released from two and a half years of administrative detention without charges.
Yousef, 71, was arrested on October 19, 2023, at his home near Ramallah as part of a wave of arrests of Hamas operatives in the West Bank following the October 7, 2023 massacre.
His son confirms the release to AFP.
In footage published following his release, he is seen being treated at a Palestinian hospital shortly after leaving prison, with his hand bandaged. The circumstances surrounding the injury are unclear.
Yousef has been arrested numerous times by Israel in the past and has spent many years in prison, both under administrative detention and following convictions related to his activities in the terror organization.
