The IDF’s top spokesman reacts to the appointment of Yahya Sinwar as the new leader of Hamas.
“There is only one place for Yahya Sinwar, and it is beside Muhammad Deif and the rest of the October 7th terrorists. That is the only place we’re preparing and intending for him,” Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari tells Saudi-owned Al-Arabiya television, referring to the top Hamas military commander who was killed in an Israeli strike last month.
Speaking to Al-Jazeera television, Hamas spokesman Osama Hamdan says Sinwar will continue the hostage-for-ceasefire negotiations.
“The problem in negotiations is not the change in Hamas,” he claims, blaming Israel and its ally the United States for the failure to seal a deal.
But he says Hamas “remains steadfast in the battlefield and in politics … The person leading today is the one who led the fighting for more than 305 days and is still steadfast in the field.”
