The IDF says it foiled an attempt to smuggle weapons from Jordan into Israel using a drone.

The drone was identified yesterday crossing the border by the Israeli Air Force’s air traffic control array. The device was then downed.

According to the IDF, troops of the Yoav Regional Brigade scanned the area today and located the drone, which was found to be ferrying 10 pistols.

The weapons were handed over to the police for further investigation.

In the past year, there have been frequent attempts to bring weapons and drugs over the Egyptian border using drones. Smuggling attempts are also frequent on the Jordanian border, although less commonly with drones.
